Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services and process.

What is dustless sanding?

Dustless sanding uses advanced equipment with HEPA filtration to capture 99% of dust particles during the sanding process. This keeps your home clean and protects your health. It's the modern way to refinish hardwood.

How long does hardwood flooring installation take?

Most hardwood flooring projects take between 2–7 days depending on the size of the space, subfloor preparation, and the type of flooring being installed.

How long do hardwood floors last?

Properly maintained hardwood floors can last 30–100 years depending on the wood species, finish quality, and level of foot traffic.

Can you repair water damage?

Yes. We assess the damage, dry the wood properly, and replace or refinish affected boards. Caught early, most water damage can be repaired. We also treat for mold to protect your investment.

Do you work on commercial spaces?

We specialize in commercial installations. We understand high-traffic environments and use durable finishes built to last. We also schedule work around your business hours.

Can I use lysol on wood floors?

No — Lysol and most all-purpose household cleaners are too harsh for finished hardwood and can dull or damage the protective coating over time. Stick to a cleaner made specifically for hardwood floors, or ask us for a recommendation during your service visit.

How long before I can walk on my floors after refinishing?

Most floors are safe to walk on (in socks) within 24 hours, but you should wait at least 2 weeks before moving furniture back or using rugs, to let the finish fully cure.

How much does hardwood flooring cost installed in Chicago?

Rates vary by wood species, square footage, and project scope. See our full hardwood flooring rates guide for current pricing by installation and service type.

What's the difference between flooring installers and flooring stores in Chicago?

A flooring store typically sells materials; a flooring installer or contractor handles the labor — subfloor prep, installation, and finishing. Luciano's helps you choose the right wood and install it correctly. Read more in how to choose the best flooring company in Chicago.
